Body Condition Scoring - Maintaining condition

Having a healthy flock is paramount for any farm/croft. Body condition scoring is a simple tool that can be used to assess ewes throughout the year.

To maintain good condition throughout the year and ensuring animals are in target condition at key times, BCS should be carried out at:-

Weaning
Tupping
Scanning mid pregnancy
Late pregnancy/Lambing

SAC Technical note TN702 provides a great guide on how to condition score. In this video we will look at the health of the sheep to ensure they meet the target conditions when required and how to achieve this.
