Unboxing a Majestic American 89 audio output power pentode vacuum tube. This valve is probably new & in its original box (NOS new old stock NIB new in box). The valve base is a black 6 pin UX6. The 6 pin base has LICENSED ONLY TO THE EXTENT INDICATED ON CARTON & an arrow on the bottom. The valve has a top connection cap. There appears to be no markings on the clear glass envelope. Printed around the base is Majestic 89. Printed on both ends of the plain box is 89 & handwritten on one end is 6.3V Pentode 6 pin + t.c. 32ma.
The type 89 has a heater filament voltage requirement of 6.3 volts & was first introduced in 1936. It is a triple grid power tube that can be used as either a pentode or triode. Majestic was a brand name used by the Grigsby-Grunow Company.
