Morgan Plus 8 road trip to Angouleme 2023

We set off on one misty September morning in our Morgan plus 8 on a road trip to Angouleme, Cognac and La Rochelle. We boarded the ferry from Poole to Cherbourg to start our road trip to our main destination Angouleme to see the classic motoring racing on the Circuit des Remparts.
Staying two one night stop overs on the way down and then, located in Soyaux just outside of Angouleme, we spent four days in a beautifully restored farm house complete with outdoor heated swimming pool. The weather was fantastic as too the motoring festival spread over 3 days with the third day being race day. Unfortunately, the last few races were cancelled due to a sudden rain storm and the super cars were unable to gain grip on the slippery road surfaces.
However, after this brilliant and enjoyable weekend, we travelled onto Cognac and across to the fascinating and historic city of La Rochelle for the next 3 days.
To continue our journey, we headed from La Rochelle northwards stopping at two other one night stop overs in charming villages to eventually arrive back in Cherbourg and the ferry crossing back to Poole....a trip to remember and the French very smooth roads!
