Yes — 100%. But there are two things you need to understand: latent defects and patent defects.

Latent defects are hidden issues you couldn’t possibly know about — like underground problems that only appear after you’ve moved out. These can still come back to you as the seller.

Patent defects are visible issues you do know about. For example, if a geyser leaks, you paint over the damage, and you don’t disclose it — that’s fraud. The Voetstoots clause won’t protect you if you knowingly cover things up.

Be very careful with this clause. It can still apply for up to a year afterwards, and honesty is always the best protection.
