I tested what happens when you give AI control of an entire computer - not just a browser or API access, but full desktop control with Bytebot AI (backed by YCombinator).

Desktop AI agents are a new category of automation that work like remote employees - they can click, type, and navigate any application just like a human would. No APIs needed, no custom integrations required.

These agents can handle 2FA, captchas, and UI changes. They work across any application (even legacy software). You can watch and intervene in real-time. The "remote worker" mental model actually works. Still early but surprisingly capable.

I used Bytebot (open source, 2k+ GitHub stars) running in Docker on my own machine (or one-click deploy to Railway). You supply your own LLM API keys.
This technology raises interesting questions about the future of automation - when every application becomes automatable without official support.
