This piece is Joseph Schwantner's second work for band. Much like "...And the Mountains Rising Nowhere," this piece takes its title from an original poem by the composer. The title is very fitting, because the piece has a very dark, heavy, and mysterious atmosphere, which is carried relentlessly forward by constantly repeating musical patterns. Performed by the North Texas Wind Symphony.
