These include simple allergic conjunctivitis, vernal and atopic keratoconjunctivitis along with giant papillary conjunctivitis. Other types include phlyctenular keratoconjunctivitis and contact dermatoconjunctivitis.

▬ 📌 Allergic Conjunctivitis
Allergic conjunctivitis has many types of which one is simple allergic conjunctivitis. It has two further types viz seasonal and perennial allergic conjunctivitis.

Their pathology involves three main stages which include vascular and cellular response followed by conjunctival response.

The other types of allergic conjunctivitis include vernal and atopic keratoconjunctivitis. The former ought to be differentially diagnosed from trachoma with predominant papillary hypertrophy.

Giant papillary conjunctivitis, another type of allergic conjunctivitis, is caused by contact lenses prostheses, or scleral buckles. It can be treated via mast cell stabilizer, antihistamines, or steroids.

On the other hand, phlyctenular keratoconjunctivitis is attributed to various factors like Staphylococcus proteins, undernourishment, or season.

Another type of allergic conjunctivitis termed contact keratoconjunctivitis is caused by prolonged contact with chemicals or drugs. It can be diagnosed via positive skin tests and typical clinical features. However, it can be treated with the use of topical steroid eyedrops or steroid ointment.
