Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has released its annual report for 2025, reiterating its commitment to annihilating terrorist threats through a combination of steel-like courage and advanced technology. Under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the force not only bravely countered attacks but also dismantled most terrorist networks through modern defense equipment and rigorous training.
According to the report, KP Police stood firm on all fronts in the struggle to protect the nation’s integrity and survival. Thanks to effective strategies and professional excellence, several terrorist incidents were foiled before they could occur. Officers and personnel, particularly in southern and tribal districts, faced terrorists with unmatched courage, risking their lives to safeguard the public.
The police also conducted continuous operations against serious crimes, including murder, attempted murder, kidnappings for ransom, extortion, theft, armed robbery, illegal weapons smuggling, narcotics, and other criminal elements.
Operations and Achievements:
In 2025, 3,277 intelligence-based operations led to the arrest of over 1,300 terrorists.
459 terrorists were killed in encounters, a 43% increase compared to 2024.
29 high-value targets with bounties on their heads were apprehended.
Large quantities of grenades, explosives, pistols, and other weapons and ammunition were recovered.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch are being reorganized to further strengthen operational efficiency, with provincial government approval for new recruitments.
Crime Statistics:
1,762 terrorism cases were registered in 2025, up 52% from 1,163 in 2024.
536 attacks on police occurred, a 48% increase from 2024, but 324 attacks were successfully foiled—an 83% increase from the previous year.
Despite a 50% increase in attacks, police martyrdom remained nearly the same at 159, thanks to operational preparedness, strong strategies, and safety measures.
Infrastructure Development:
Police lines, stations, posts, and other facilities across the province were renovated and strengthened.
New police lines were inaugurated in Haripur and Karak; police stations in Timergara and Zida, and posts in Haripur, Rustam, Takht Nasrati, Laki City, Ghullani, and Khanpur were completed.
Ten additional buildings are nearing completion, enhancing police operational capability.
National Action Plan (NAP) Operations:
18,432 search-and-strike operations conducted province-wide.
80,481 suspects detained; 18,701 weapons and 508,548 rounds of ammunition recovered.
Over 300,000 homes were inspected, and 13,258 cases were registered for rule violations.
Hotel inspections led to 14,163 cases filed.
95,084 temporary and permanent checkpoints screened over 100,000 suspects.
Overall, 30,631 weapons of various types were recovered in 2025.
Bomb Disposal and K9 Units:
The Bomb Disposal Unit neutralized 110 explosives, 385 hand grenades, 145 rockets, 9 mines, and 12 suicide jackets.
The K9 Unit conducted security sweeps at 1,185 locations, detecting 240 rocket launchers, 4,532 rounds of ammunition, 364 firearms, and 9 IEDs/hand grenades.
New sniffer dogs were added to expand the K9 Unit.
Training and Capacity Building:
97 specialized courses were conducted, training 2,500 recruits.
The Elite Training Center held the first IGP Shooting Competitions, including thermal sniping and hand-to-hand combat.
Specialized sniping courses were introduced to train highly skilled snipers.
Community Engagement and Complaint Redressal:
Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs) resolved 6,347 public disputes, out of 7,644 total cases.
Through the Police Access Service, 4,735 out of 6,096 complaints were successfully addressed.
For the first time, the IGP held open courts at the Central Police Office for immediate redressal of citizen issues.
Public-Friendly Initiatives:
Orders were issued to reopen 10 closed and 3 new driving schools across the province.
New apps were launched, including Criminal Record Office, Police Infrastructure Management System, Rabta, Police Dost, Police Jawan, and Police Sahulat Markaz, to improve citizen services.
The Peshawar Mega Safe City Project, delayed for two decades, is in final stages, with installation of high-resolution cameras at 335 key locations in southern districts and 125 key locations in Peshawar.
Anti-Crime Measures:
Strong action was taken against land-grabbing and extortion groups for the first time in provincial history, earning public appreciation.
Police Welfare:
A record PKR 1.21 billion was spent on welfare of 17,654 officers and personnel.
PKR 50 million provided for medical aid to 8,362 personnel.
Funds for children suffering from Thalassemia and disabilities totaled over PKR 3.19 crore.
PKR 11.18 crore in scholarships for 4,113 officers and their children; PKR 37 lakh for 24 students under PPI scholarships.
