Join us in this lecture where Professor Zach Murphy will be providing a comprehensive overview of the cranial nerves. We begin by identifying the twelve cranial nerves (CN I–XII) in order, detailing their names, general functions, and whether they are sensory, motor, or mixed. We also review their anatomical origins from the brain or brainstem and their major pathways. This section lays the groundwork for understanding how these nerves control sensory perception, motor coordination, and parasympathetic activity in the head, neck, and beyond.

We then explore the key sensory functions of the cranial nerves, including vision, smell, hearing, balance, taste, and general facial sensation.
