Waste prevention, re-use and repair activities are key for the transition to the circular economy and require workers with a specific set of skills. Social enterprises active in re-use & repair give opportunity to people distant from the labour market to acquire such skills while giving a second life to products and materials.

In the Belgian regions of Wallonia and Brussels-Capital, there is an officially recognised training programme and job profile focused on giving value to waste materials and products: the 'Waste Valoriser'.

RESSOURCES, the Brussels and Walloon federation of social and circular enterprises, has been implementing this training programme together with its member organisations. AID Val de Senne in Tubize, Belgium is an example of such a training place.

The video shows one of the training programmes of AID Val de Senne, a wood and textiles workshop Atelier Valor. Atelier Valor gives a chance to people distant from the labour market to learn new skills by giving value from materials which would otherwise end up as waste.
