Learn Jakub & Emeline's Advanced Pattern | THE TWISTER | for West Coast Swing

Hi Dancers I’m Steve Fitz and after a short break thanks to Covid, we’re back with Today’s Legends Jakub & Emeline.

This is simply beautiful West Coast Swing dancing so lets break down this pattern I'm calling 'The Twister'.

Tip #1:
Have a Right to Right hand hold connection then offer your left hand below the right to set up the connection.

Tip #2:
As your follower moves behind you keep your left to left hand connection so their arm stays connected to your back.
Followers keep your arm in this position as you rotate behind so the leader can collect your arm.

Tip #3:
Leaders, don’t be afraid to experiment with your own footwork. We ran this sequence multiple times and found the Leaders footwork can be done ‘correctly’ however it always felt better to fudge the footwork timing a little.
Remember your goal here is to connect to your follower and move with them in the connection with your weight transfer.

Tip #4:
As you hook under the followers left armpit your hand connection begins to change. You’ll initially lead this move with your right hand, switch your lead to your left after you hook under the arm and redirect, then back to your right hand in the hammerlock position.

This move creates flow in your dance, so learn it and add it into the mix on slower tunes.
