Huge turnout at the Youghal St. Patrick's Day Parade 2022.
Thousands lined the streets of Youghal to catch a glimpse of this years highly anticipated St. Patrick's Day Parade. The parade returned in all its glory this afternoon as a huge crowd turned out – to both take part and watch on.

There were two viewing platforms. One outside the Town Hall in the back street where members of the East Cork Municipal Council wave to the colourful floats as they entered the Mall area and the other at the Post Office where the members of the judging panel watched as the parade meandered up North Main street.

The beautiful dry and sunny weather added to the occasion in what was one of the biggest parades in recent times.

The parade was broadcast live by Youghalonline and viewers from all over the world left some lovely comments to say where they were watching from. Viewers watched from the UK to the USA and over to Spain, and we would like to thank you for 'tuning in' and big shout out to Kieran McCarthy for working the camera.

The parade kicked off at 3pm on the button from the starting point on the Brehon Road on the north end of town. From there it went for a might walk all along the back streets passing Catherine St, Grattan St, The Market Sq., The Mall, Strand St and rounded at the Grotto. Massive crowds lined both sides of the street along this route especially at the corner of Moby Dicks pub and again at The Mall.

The parade was led by members of the Irish Defence Forces carrying the Tricolour followed by the Youghal Pipe Band and then the huge amount of colourful floats with all the parade-goers.

The parade then tuned onto Friar St. South Main St., and the under the Youghal Clock Gate Tower on to North Main street. Again both sides of the street was packed to capacity the crowds watched from the pavement and doorways. It was truly spectacular to see such crowds back again after two years without celebrating our patron Saint due to the pandemic. There wasn't a green mask in sight. It was as if it the pandemic never happened. Normal service has resumed...well hopefully.
