BRESSE (BROILER) CHICKENS: are the best tasting chicken in the world worth it?

Enter Ali’s homesteading era: last week, I processed 15 Bresse chickens. This was the first time I’d done that many birds at once. I have to say, up until harvest day, I was convinced I wouldn’t do broilers again. But getting to fill my freezer with food for my family that I raised and harvested was so incredibly rewarding.

Better still, I did it all with a stunning heritage chicken. Bresse are a proprietary breed that originally comes from France. It is a hearty, healthy bird that is slower growing than your standard jumbo cross and is an excellent forager. I could not recommend them more.
