Another Underdog | F-86K Sabre Dog Ace Commentary (War Thunder)

The last of the Sabres is past her prime.

The North American F-86K "Sabre Dog" is the most advanced Sabre model available in War Thunder. Found in the German, Italian, and French air trees, it comes equipped with four 20mm revolver cannons and two AIM-9B sidewinder missiles. The Sabre Dog also features improved radar and an afterburning engine. On paper, this all sounds wonderful, but the sad truth is it's not enough. At BR 9.3, the current jet meta has the F-86K going toe to toe with the likes of Harriers, MiG-19s, and Su-7s, all of which outspeed, outclimb, outgun, and sometime even out-turn the Sabre Dog with ease; indeed, the Sabre Dog's increased weight means it even has trouble keeping up with other Sabres in a maneuvering fight. All things considered, I cannot recommend playing this plane right now, especially since all of them still have ridiculous 18000+ SL repair costs. Maybe one day when BR decompression finally happens, this strange sidegrade of a Sabre will have its time in the sun again.
