More than 30 trains in half a day passed the famous Austell wye during this visit. In Austell, GA, the East End District of the Norfolk Southern Alabama Division merges into the Atlanta North District of the NS Georgia Division.The East End brings traffic from and to Birmingham, AL, and the northern section of the Atlanta North District goes up to Chattanooga, TN. The Whitaker Intermodal Yard in Austell and the Inman Yard in Atlanta feed these main lines with many interesting trains. It's definitely one of the "railfanning Meccas" in Georgia. One particular special in this movie is the appearance of NS's heritage unit "Lackawanna" (NS # 1074) in the colors of the former Delaware, Lackawanna and Western.
