Soaking clothes in water with salt will helpprevent the color of new clothes from fading, help the color of old clothes last longer, and help remove dirt easily; this is especially useful for jeans and black clothes. Salt binds the color and helps remove dirt and detergent residue from clothes.
Main uses:
To prevent color fading: When washing new clothes for the first time, using a salt water solution (salt + water) or adding a small amount of salt during the wash will prevent color from running.
To preserve black color: If you soak jeans and black clothes with salt, their black color will last longer.
For white clothes: Adding salt when washing white clothes will help prevent yellowing and keep them bright.
How to do:
Preparing the solution: Fill a bucket with water, add 1 cup of rock salt, and mix well to dissolve.
Soaking: Soak the clothes in this salt water for 2-3 hours.
Washing: After soaking, wring out the clothes and wash them as usual with soap. You can also add a little salt while washing.
Additional note:
Best for natural fibers: Using salt will be beneficial for fabrics made from natural fibers like cotton and linen, but it won't make much difference for synthetic fibers like polyester.
Avoid sunlight: When drying clothes, avoid drying in direct sunlight and dry in the shade to prevent color fading.
