Colin Farrell reflected on a challenging day filming Minority Report with Tom Cruise. Playing Department of Justice agent Danny Witwer, Farrell recalled one of his worst filming experiences coinciding with his birthday on May 31st. He had requested not to work that day, but production scheduled him for a 6 a.m. shoot. After a night of distractions, he overslept slightly, rushing to set where the third assistant director told him he couldn’t go on like that. Farrell admitted to having a few beers and cigarettes to cope, acknowledging that it wasn’t a healthy choice.
The scene he struggled with began with the line, “I’m sure you’ve all grasped the fundamental paradox of pre-crime methodology.” Despite being offered a break to regain composure, he chose to push through, resulting in 46 takes. Farrell noted that Tom Cruise “wasn’t very happy” with his performance.

He also reflected on how his coping methods at the time were not sustainable, later leading him to rehab.
