Abstract
Open non-integrable Hamiltonian systems of physical interest present a variety of fractal structures, like basins of escape and their corresponding boundaries. The key element underlying the escape dynamics is the so-called strange saddle, an invariant non-attracting chaotic manifold. In this work we will consider some of these fractal structures in a model describing the drift motion of charged particles in magnetized plasmas. We characterize the fractality of the escape basins using basin entropy and basin boundary entropy, as well as the quantification of the Wada property. We also verify the relationship among escape rate, Lyapunov exponents, and the information dimension of the fractal escape basin boundary.
