This slide show recreates an incident where a faller was trying to overcome a falling difficulty by himself. As the tree fell, its branches caused a 500-pound slab to break off a nearby dangerous tree. The slab struck the faller, causing fatal injuries.

This incident investigation video shows the importance of providing consistent site supervision and a site-specific workplan incorporating alternative falling methods, and seeking qualified assistance in accordance with the BC Faller Training Standard.

Forestry employers in B.C. can use this video to raise awareness about the risks of dangerous trees and educate their fallers on health and safety procedures.
