Duran Duran - Make Me Smile (Come Up & See Me) - bass cover

This week we smile with the boys and reminisce back to 1982 with their cover of Cockney Rebel's Make Me Smile, written by Steve Harley. Rockin' my SB-1010 for this one to channel my inner JT.

This was recorded through a Clarett+ Octo Pre with the channel insert feeding a genuine AudioScape hardware Opto Comp. The Clarett+Octo Pre then feeds back into my trusty Apollo Twin USB via ADAT. Then, in Pro Tools, I used these plugins - UAD Massenburg MDWEQ5 (a very clean equalizer) to boost 80Hz by 1db, cut 160Hz by 1.5db and boost 1kHz by 1db, a Softube "DBX 160" compressor for some extra leveling and punch, then another UAD LA-2A "Tube" compressor to "smooth n boost", a smidge of the ubiquitous Waves RBass, then lastly a pinch of SoundToys Microshift for subtle widening. Oh yeah, before the bass hits anything, it's going through my new JHS Colour Box v2 pedal for some of that sweet Neve grit.
