The Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema's case with a charge for contravening the Riotous Assemblies Act, was postponed by the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court to 5 June 2017 yesterday. Addressing hundreds of EFF supporters outside court, Malema reiterated his call for black people to occupy any vacant piece of land they want peacefully. These utterances have put him on a collission course with the FW de Klerk Foundation and the Democratic Alliance.
Both the FW de Klerk Foundation and the EFF's political partner the DA, have threatened to lodge a complaint regarding the controversial comments with the South African Human Rights Commission. But, why does Malema want the 1956 Riotous Assemblies Act declared unconstitutional?
