(28 Jul 1977) Situation in Libya, following recent fighting with Egypt: Libya maintained official silence on Thursday (28 July 77) on moves by Arab mediators to patch up the feud with Egypt, but the leadership in Tripoli stepped up its propaganda war with criticism of the United States for agreeing to sell more arms to the Egyptians. Palestine Liberation Organisation leader Yassar Arafat and other Arab leaders - notably Algeria's President Boumedienne - have been trying to defuse the situation in North Africa, following six days of fighting between the two countries.
