Long exposure photography (also known as slow shutter photography) is powerful. We use it to turn to blur movement, bend time, or take cleaner landscapes and cityscapes.

Can you do it with a phone?

For a technological marvel that it is, the iPhone camera doesn't natively support long shutter speeds.

Long exposure photography requires exposing your shot for seconds or even minutes, usually on a tripod. The result is motion blur. To achieve these longer shutter speeds on an iPhone we can use computational photography

There are many ways to take long exposures with your iPhone, but we'll focus on three. The first one uses the built-in iPhone camera app. The second one uses Spectre (from the creators of Halide). The third one uses Pro Camera by Moment.

If you have a favorite of the three, or if you use a long exposure app I haven't tried, and you think I should, let me know in the comments!
