The following video journal captures the essence of a four-day intensive off-site study program held at the Sirius Community center, where the Chhandika and MDo Toronto Kathak schools converged. This documentary delves into the heart of Kathak, an art form rich in tradition and vibrancy. Over these days, students and instructors from diverse backgrounds lived and breathed Kathak, fostering a deep sense of community and shared learning. In this immersive experience, our days began before dawn, with early morning preparations and yoga, followed by intensive dance sessions until dusk, culminating in evening cooldowns, music, discussions, and late-night review sessions. The film intricately documents their journey, highlighting the fluidity and dynamism of Kathak through a series of workshops, training sessions, and interactions. Overlaying the visuals is the narration of one of the main directors, Joana De Souza, who eloquently shares her personal Kathak journey, shedding light on the dance's significance, adaptability, and its transmission to future generations.
