Beregond served Gondor as a Guard of the Citadel in the late Third Age, and he played a crucial part in preventing the death of Faramir, Captain of the Guard. Additionally, he provided exposition and friendship to Peregrin Took, while the city of Minas Tirith watched for Mordor's looming assault.
