"चालत चालत जुग भया कबीरा जी"
The opening line of this soulful composition beautifully conveys the central theme of the entire song that the path to find the Almighty is laid with utter patience and pain. One might spend their entire life in this quest and not everyone is brave enough to tread on this path!
We must have faith in his divine presence in all the actions that we perform, things we perceive, and the places we visit.
This song has been tied with the threads of devotion dipped in the pot of 'भक्ति रस', perfectly reflecting the true essence of devotion and love for the omnipresent God. Kabir says that the world is running behind materialistic pleasures but true happiness lies in exhibiting devotion to God because only that will lead us to salvation.
We’ve been walking for ages but who is there to show us the way? Home is just a step away but without insight, without the help of a Guru, the mind wanders constantly . Kabir says that the seeker drank the ghee and the world’s content with buttermilk. Why should we worry if we drank the ghee as the cow is with the creator? We should feed her the fodder of our love and we’ll get her milk forever.
Kabir asks us that who’s the pot, who is the churning stick, and who’s the one who churns it? And he beautifully answers it that the mind is the pot, the body is the churning stick and our awareness is the one who churns it. Kabir says that the arrow of attention darts everywhere, we should try to keep it steady, hold it still if we can. Only the warrior stays on the battlefield because the coward always runs away.
In the last verse, Kabir says that he makes his house on the tip of a thorn because that’s where he is the most at ease. Sage Kabir is absorbed in this play called life and he is alert each moment of night and day. Close your eyes and relax with this lovely composition in the melodious voice of Mahesharam Ji.

English translation of the song -
O Kabir
you’ve been walking for ages
Who will show you the way?
Without insight, the mind wanders
Home is just a step away
O Kabir
Kabir, the seeker, drank the ghee
The world’s content with buttermilk
Why worry if you drank the ghee?
The cow is with the creator
Feed her the fodder of your love
You’ll get her milk forever
O Kabir
Who’s the pot, who the churning stick
Who’s the one who churns?
Mind the pot, body the churning stick
Awareness the one who churns
O Kabir
(The arrow of attention darts everywhere)
Keep steady the arrow of awareness
Hold it still if you can
The warrior stays in the battlefield
The coward runs away
O Kabir
I make my house on the tip of a thorn
That’s where I’m most at ease
Sage Kabir is absorbed in play
Alert each moment of night and day
Vocal - Maheshram ji
