Mr. Sawdust (Wallace Kunkel) — Radial Arm Saw Live Demonstration (1990)

Aside from the lucky few who were in attendance, this is the first time anyone will get to see the original Mr. Sawdust – Wallace Kunkel – live in action on his tool of choice, the radial arm saw. Filmed at what was then the Kunkel Brothers school/workshop in Flanders, New Jersey – he was 70 years old at the time of taping, and as it turns out, this would be his last public "performance". What a gift to realize it was captured to tape, and finally able to make its way online.

This footage has been tucked away on old tapes that we've come across. After transferring to digital and restoring as best as possible, it's now here for all to enjoy. Mr. Sawdust would have been thrilled with all-things-YouTube if he were around to see it.

Throughout the night this was filmed, a journalist/photographer with Woodshop News magazine was taking wonderful photos and absorbing everything for a feature/article that would be written. We've recently managed to scan that entire article (published February 1991):
