First, let's deal with the elephant in the room; the Amiga version of Last Ninja 2 is a bit of a train-wreck, make no mistake.

It runs and plays very poorly indeed. The game runs at a snail's pace, especially if there is an enemy on screen. It looks like Armakuni is going for a nice little jog rather than being a deadly ninja on a mission.

The sluggishness impacts on the controls, often resulting in you attempting to pick things up when you want to jump and vice versa. To make matters worse, you automatically sheathe your weapons whenever you perform the pick-up animation, so you have to reselect a weapon every single time this happens; it get's annoying very quickly.

There are other strange bugs, such as the fact enemies on other screens will be lying on the floor, recovering health even though you haven't even attacked them; I think if you defeat an enemy on another screen then the game gets confused and transposes the health of the defeated enemy to whatever is on the screen at the time.

I'm not sure why, but it seems that most of the enemies are wearing boiler suits and have straggly mullet hair-dos. Some of the combat moves are hilariously bad too, with weapons just twitching left and right in their hands without the character actually moving.

The graphics are more detailed and the music, by Mike Clarke, isn't bad, but they just don't make the game enjoyable like the C64 version.

I didn't like it back then and I don't like it now. If you owned this tosh (as I did) then I feel for you.

Enjoy!
