Our special guest in this podcast is the lovely and amazing Dr Theresa Redmond (BA Hons, PGCE, MSc, PhD).

Dr Theresa Redmond is an associate professor at the International Policing and Public Protection Research Institute (IPPPRI) at Anglia Ruskin University.

She is a subject specialist in child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), vulnerability, and gender based violence. She has extensive experience and expertise in this field as both a frontline practitioner and researcher.

Theresa is currently leading IPPPRI research projects on: Improving responses to, and support for, the Families of Online CSA Suspects and Offenders; Researcher Wellbeing; Working Collaboratively with Victims and Survivors of CSA; and CSAE Police Officer Wellbeing.

Prior to this post, Theresa was a researcher for the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse for 2 years and was involved in researching CSA in ethnic minority communities in schools and in sports settings. She was also an assistant facilitator for the IICSA Truth Project.

Before becoming a researcher, Theresa worked for over 10 years as a frontline practitioner in social care with children and young people at risk of, or experiencing, CSAE. She then became a social sciences teacher for 12 years, and Head of Department, in a large secondary school, with a significant pastoral role, supported the mental health and wellbeing of the students.

Theresa is a feminist and has lived experience of sexual violence.
