It's Alive! After sitting for eight years in the woods and under a tarp at her previous owners home, this 97 Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport I came back to life on March 20th, 2017. I had been working on this bike for about two month with cleaning this beauty up a little, changing her engine oil, gearbox oil, filters, and so on. The inside of the tank had a putty like coating due to the old fuel braking down, which took a while to get rid off. I finally installed a new battery last week, and everything worked as it should, except the fuel pump, which did not prime. I received and installed the new pump, and I was a little surprised that the new pump not only primed, as I turned the ignition to run, but the engine started up on the second push of the starter button. She only needed a second push because she had no fuel in her system. I was also surprised that the engine didn't cough, hickuped, or smoked after sitting for eight years! I took her for a ride around my subdivision, and all gears changed as they should. The rear brake is the only item that does not work. The reservoir is low, but I think its more than low fluid, since the brake does not work at all. I also bought a new Will Creedon ECU performance chip, since this bike still has the factory ECU chip installed.
I now need to powder coat the rims, valve covers, and handlebar weights. She also needs new tires, the brake fluid changed, a new front fender, and the new handlebar grips, brake, and clutch levers need to be installed. I also bought a new timing chain and tensioner, which I will install next week. This is one of eight 1100 Sport's I own, and this bike in time will make a nice addition to my stable!
