Question 1. When will you say a body is in (i) uniform acceleration? (ii) nonuniform acceleration?

Question 2. A bus decreases its speed from 80 km h-1 to 60 km h-1 in 5 s. Find the acceleration of the bus.
Solution:

v = 60 km/hr
= 60 x 5/18
= 16.66 ms-1
u = 80 km/hr
= 80 x 5/18
= 22.22 ms-1

t = 5 seconds
a = (16.66 - 22.22)/5
a = -1.11 ms2

Question 3. A train starting from a railway station and moving with uniform acceleration attains a speed 40 km h-1 in 10 minutes. Find its acceleration
Solution:

V = 40 km/hr
= 40 x 5/18
= 11.11 ms2
u = 0
t = 10 minutes
= 10 x 60 = 600 seconds .
