Ingredients for the Dough:

500 grams white bread flour
80 grams margarine
10 grams of instant yeast
1 tsp salt
30 grams of brown sugar
2 eggs, whisked
120 grams milk powder
240ml warm water
Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the white bread flour, margarine, instant yeast, salt, brown sugar, whisked eggs, and milk powder.
Slowly add the warm water while kneading the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. This should take about 10-12 minutes.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Punch down the dough to remove any air bubbles and divide it into equal portions for shaping the buns.
Ingredients for the Char Siu Filling:

Chinese BBQ pork (Char Siu), chopped into small pieces
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 cup diced onions
1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
Instructions for the Char Siu Filling:

In a bowl, mix together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, cornstarch, water, and sesame oil to create the sauce.
Heat a pan over medium heat and add the diced onions and bell peppers. Cook until softened.
Add the chopped Chinese BBQ pork (Char Siu) to the pan and pour in the sauce mixture. Stir well to coat the pork evenly and cook until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Assembling and Baking the Buns:

Take a portion of the dough and flatten it into a circle. Place a spoonful of the cooled Char Siu filling in the center.
Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal, forming a bun shape.
Place the shaped buns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover them with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Brush the risen buns with egg wash for a shiny finish.
Bake the Char Siu Bao in the preheated oven for about 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
Enjoy your homemade Baked Char Siu Bao filled with delicious Chinese BBQ pork!
