SleepyOni: Devil Puppet! Part 1 -Fabrication

Wherein I design, pattern, and build a foam puppet head from scratch!

I've wanted to make a vaguely muppet-ish puppet for a really long time. Have to split it into two parts due to time limitations; I'm taking an impromptu roadtrip this weekend, and shop time has been pretty sparse the last few weeks.

The main body is made from upholstery foam scraps (from a project years ago), then covered in basic red fleece material. Used 2mil craft foam to line the mouth, and some spare plastic spheres for the eyes.

My initial patterning was hilariously over-complicated; ditched those patterns completely when it came to the fabric. Likewise, my first plan was to sprayglue and/or barge cement the fabric to the foam - also a total failure, so I re-cut the main fabric piece and commenced hand-sewing all the pieces together. This worked out much more smoothly.
