In our world today, few of us are truly seen and acknowledged. Kellita Maloof’s talk is about the implications of this reality, and how the art form of burlesque can be used to heal the resulting relational wound.

Burlesque, consciously used in this way, is a pathway back to wholeness, authenticity and full-spectrum aliveness, for both those performing, and the audience members. Both roles can help us uncover parts of ourselves we may have edited out, and learn to express them more fully in our lives.

But there's no need to perform burlesque (or indeed watch it) to put into practice the philosophy Kellita shares. Her talk is about how to genuinely see another human, and the impacts of that, for both the seer and the seen. Running with the ideas and practices she shares could transform your relationship with everyone in your orbit, as well as with yourself. Every day we each have the opportunity to see one another into existence. It is the greatest gift we can offer one another.

For more than twenty years, Kellita has been helping women express themselves with greater confidence, presence and radiance, through performing Conscious Burlesque. Her own background in dance and performing has taken her to stages all over the world – including as a five-time finalist at the Burlesque Hall of Fame – but it is her work with kind, soulful, highly sensitive helpers who've been over-editing, over-managing and over-giving that led her to the TEDxFolsom stage. Kellita Maloof is a Performing and Teaching Artist, Embodiment Facilitator, and Conscious Burlesque Mentor known lovingly as “The Showgirl Shaman.” Queen of Carnaval San Francisco 2008 and 5-time finalist at the Burlesque Hall of Fame, Kellita founded the award-winning dance troupe Hot Pink Feathers in 2000. In 2010 she created her signature program, Burlesque From The Inside Out, where her experience as a dancer and choreographer dovetail with her experience as a tender and safe space holder who practices transformative modalities including Transformational NLP, EFT, Systemic Constellations, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. She shares her point of view and her methodology in her book, How To Create A Burlesque Solo … From The Inside Out.

Kellita works at the intersection where burlesque dance meets depth psychology meets attachment theory meets individuation meets autoimmune recovery meets spirituality.
