A dual playthrough of MKII for MD and SNES with all fatalities and endings, including footage from the Arcade version. Since the MD version omits all bio screens (except for some scrolling text for the endings), the 32X version is also used for those. Some PC and Amiga is included too.

Yes, I know this type of video is a bit obsolete in this day an age since every possible "comparison" between the 16-bits has already been done, in numerous forms, and uploads of this length are considered excessive. This update on the previous MKII video, however, was overdue.

This has never been about "which version is better" but more about how the various versions of the same game look next to each other, the details, the visuals, the music. I always found juxtaposing slightly different versions of the same game, playing simultaneously, a bit enjoyable and amusing. A nostalgia retro trip. This video is aimed to those who also think this is a bit fun.

In my experience as someone who grew up with these games and as a retro enthusiast, there's very few cases where one version is obviously better and the "definitive" one. Other people are more qualified to explain in detail the advantages each console had, but to me most multi-platform games from the 8/16-bit eras are like two slightly different interpretations of the same concept. Like giving the same assigment to two different artists, each coming up with their own version depending on their talent and capabilities.

When it comes to MKII the SNES is certainly more accurate and with a feel closer to the Arcade, but MD tends to be more playable and has its own charm. Music is subjective, but the work of Matt Furniss on the soundtrack of Sega's MK & MK II gives the MD versions of these games their unique character.

Will this be the final video, or a restart for this channel. I don't know.
