At around 8:00 a.m. on December 22, during the rush hour commute in Shanghai, China, a subway train on Metro Line 11 was struck by a collapsing tower crane as it departed from Chénxiáng Highway Station. The impact shattered train windows, deformed the doors, and caused severe damage to the front of the train. A massive crack tore open between the front car and the first carriage. The scene was chaotic, and passengers were visibly shaken. After an emergency stop, passengers were left in a hazardous area, facing the risk of electrocution from high-voltage wires as they escaped. Many described the experience as narrowly escaping death.
