Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels Longplay

Описание к видео Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels Longplay

Complete longplay of Super Mario Bros. 2 (or Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, as it's more commonly known) for the Famicom. All regular levels are covered, in addition to World 9 and Worlds A through D. I tried to show off as many 1-ups, coins and hidden items as I could.

I did show the 1-up flagpole trick in the first two levels, but kinda abandoned it after that for the sake of getting all the coins. To pull it off you just have to make sure your coin count has both digits the same value (e.g. 33 or 44) then hit the flagpole when the timer's last digit matches that value. If you're ever struggling to get through this game, I highly recommend making use of that trick, you can rack up your lives to the twenties if you do it enough times. I always use it when playing this game normally (which I have done about 20 times at this point, I'm a masochist I know).

I really do have a soft spot for this game. Many criticise its unforgiving difficulty but I welcome it - so many Mario games these days are so easy, and while that's not a bad thing by any means, I find this game's level of challenge quite refreshing. Like many unforgivingly hard NES games of its time, It's the kind of a game you really need to work at in order to get good at it. The more you play it, the easier (and funner) it gets.
However I will admit the inconsistent spawning of some of the platforms and koopas (especially in 8-3 and C-3) is downright codswallop, and Luigi controls terribly due to his traction, so I rarely use him. But aside from that, I really do love this game, and I do wish it had gotten released outside of Japan on the NES.
