The biographical documentary "Eric Liddell, Olympic Champion Born in Tianjin, China" produced by the Tianjin TV Station, China, is a special gift of Tianjin for the successful host of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Eric Liddell, a Scottish man, was born in Tianjin, China, 1920. When Eric was five years old, he was sent to Britain by his parents to be educated in Scotland. Eric Liddell won the champion of 400 meters race at the 1924 Paris Olympics. Upon his graduation from the Edinburgh University in 1925, Eric Liddell returned to Tianjin, and worked as a Chemistry and PE teacher in the Xinxue School. He made a great contribution to the development of sport in modern China, and cultivated a large number of Olympic athletes for the early China. In 1943, he was interned at the Weihsien Internment Camp (in the modern city of Weifang). He died in 1945, five months before the surrender of Japan, aged just 43 from a brain tumor.
The documentary is dedicated to the 110th birthday anniversary of Eric Liddell.
