Bangladesh | Hindu properties attacked in Bangladesh between Aug 5-20 : Report

A report by the Bangladeshi daily Prothom Alo has detailed the attacks on the Hindu minority that occurred between August 5-20. According to the report, the highest number of attacks took place on August 5th and 6th. Between August 5-20, 1,068 homes and businesses owned by Hindus were attacked. In addition, 22 houses of worship were targeted, and two Hindus lost their lives. Out of the 1,068 properties attacked, only 506 were owned by individuals associated with the Awami League, indicating that many of these incidents were not politically motivated. The violence affected 49 districts, with Khulna Division in southwestern Bangladesh witnessing the most extensive damage—every district in the region saw communal violence, and 295 Hindu properties were destroyed. Rangpur experienced the second-largest assault, with 219 properties damaged, followed by Mymensingh with 183, Rajshahi with 155, Dhaka with 79, Barishal with 68, Chattogram with 45, and Sylhet with 25.
