三毛，台灣作家。
1948年，隨父母从重庆遷居台灣。 1967年赴西班牙留學，後去德國、美國等。 1973年定居西屬撒哈拉沙漠和荷西結婚。 1981年回台後，曾在文化大學任教，1984年辭去教職，而以寫作、演講為重心。
1991年1月4日，三毛死於自殺。

Sanmao was a writer and translator. Her works range from autobiographical writing, travel writing and reflective novels, to translations of Spanish-language comic strips. She studied philosophy and taught German before becoming a career writer.
On January 4, 1991, at the age of 47, Sanmao died by suicide in a hospital in Taipei by hanging herself with a pair of silk stockings.
In 2019, Sanmao was acknowledged in the New York Times Overlooked posthumous obituary feature for her book The Stories of the Sahara.
