SOLO BACKPACKING The Pacific Crest Trail | Section L in Washington | PCT 2020 | Ep. 4

Day 5: PCT Mile 2653.1, Northern Terminus at the Canadian Border to PCT Mile 2638.4, Tentsite & Spring

I got a late start to the day. I had a hard time saying goodbye to KitKat at the Northern Terminus. Our reunion was so short. Why do goodbyes have to be so hard?

I didn’t start hiking until 10:30 this morning and had a 15 mile day ahead of me. Lots of climbing including the climb up to the Viewpoint from Hopkins Lake, up and over Woody Pass and then up and over Rock Pass. Thankfully the tentsite I was heading to was shortly after my climb up to Rock Pass.

Day 6: PCT Mile 2638.4, Tentsite & Spring to PCT Mile 2622.9, Seasonal Stream (Right Before Harts Pass)

After having kind of a crappy night’s sleep thanks to the sloped tentsite I set up at the night before, I was back on the trail for a 16 mile day, heading to Harts Pass.

If my lunch spot looks familiar, that’s because it is! I stopped there to camp on my Day 3. It’s the tentsite that was on the ridgeline with the epic 360 degree views (and the blueberries!) The hike into Harts Pass was so beautiful and the weather was perfect.

Total Ascent: 3,890 feet
Total Descent: 1,833 feet

Total Mileage for Day 6: 15.5 miles
Total Ascent: 3,199 feet
Total Descent: 3,218 feet
