Off The Record Episode 1: Documents, Records, Archives

Just over a year ago, UP SLIS started For The Record, a conversation series where archives and information studies professors chat about everything records and archives. We are now proud to present a spin-off series called Off The Record.

Off The Record is a student-led series discussing key concepts, principles, and practices in archives and records management. The videos are produced by our students in the Bachelor of Library and Information Science program.

This first video explores the distinction between documents, records, and archives.

We all have heard documents, records, and archives and sometimes have used them interchangeably, however these three actually have some slight differences.

This video discusses the differences between documents, records, and archives and how these terms are important in the field of records management and archives.
