Ajloun Castle | Jordan | History Documentary

Описание к видео Ajloun Castle | Jordan | History Documentary

The Crusades. The word conjures up images of knights, brutal violence, and huge castles. Notable crusader castles include the Krak des Chavalier in Syria, the Karak castle in Jordan. But what about the other side? Did the Muslims build castles to defend themselves? Why yes they did! This is the Ajloun Castle or Qal’at ar-rabad, located in Jordan. It is 70km Northwest of the capital city Amman. It may look like a crusader castle but it was built by the Islamic Ayyubid military in 1184AD as a military fort in order to protect the region from invading crusader forces.
