Wuben T1 Flashlight Review - Is This The Best Camping Torch?

We trial and give you our honest review of the Wuben T1 tactical flashlight. Apparently one of the best and most practical camping torches on the market today? But is it?
Is it any good and does it live up to it's reputation?
Is it a 'must have' piece of camping gear?
Is it bright enough to help us find our way along a cliff to a beach?
Is it worth purchasing or do you stick with your phone or a standard torch?

So, did we find this flashlight (or torch as we more commonly refer to them in the UK) any good?
Every camper needs a torch, whether it is going for walks or to help you find the toilet late at night. (Something we often do.)
We have always just stuck to our simple HighGear battery powered torch, and we believed it to be an adequate flashlight. It helped guide us around in the dark, and even though it was not the brightest, it was we believed, completely satisfactory, and good enough for the job. That is of course until we tried this Wuben T1 flashlight.

We did a real live test with the Wuben T1, and used it to help us navigate our way down as steep path next to a cliff. Something that turned out, may have been a been a bit dangerous with the HighGear torch.
With two modes, one Tactical and one Outdoor, the Wuben gives you a range of different levels of brightness. We actually found that the lowest level, was actually brighter that our HighGear torch!

So we set off on a walk towards the beach, and you will see as soon as we started playing with the different settings, we were instantly amazed by the difference. This Wuben Flashlight has an amazing range, and we found ourselves lighting up cliff faces that were in the region of 300 to 400 metres away! Apparently it has a maximum distance of 500+ metres!!
The different levels are all controlled by a switch on the base of the base of the torch, but as Scott did not read the instructions, he was a bit unsure of the number of levels and method of changing them.
In addition to this amazing flashlight being extremely powerful, other good aspects are the fact that it is lightweight, and is rechargeable.
According to the instructions, this Wuben T1 flashlight does have a really good life span with any one charge pending the setting you have it on i.e.
1.5 hours on high
2.5 hours on medium
10 hours on low
100 hours on eco!! And you need to bear in mind that the low mode was still brighter than our HighGear torch. Which is battery powered and would never last that long!
It is also worth noting that it is waterproof and will actually operate under water, should the need ever arise? (We are unsure of the depths though?). It is a very robust bit of kit.
For people such as ourselves, eg a simple camping family, a tactical torch is something that we would never consider or think that we need. But, after using this Wuben flashlight we do believe that it really is one 'must have' piece of camping gear.

It is suitable for anyone that is doing night time activities on a regular basis, from campers staggering to the toilet from their tent, right through to night fishing. But, as you will see it is actually so powerful in full beam, it could blind and scare away pretty much anything. (So you may have no luck fishing if you have it on full beam).

In summary. a bit trickier than an everyday flashlight, as it is operated by more than a simple on off button, but after 5 minutes (or if you read the instructions), you will get the hang of it. But, we found this to be more than just a torch, in full beam it is like a portable sun machine, giving you instant visibility, and gets a thumbs up from us.
It is now a permanent fixture in our camping gear box.
