Editor’s Take | What are global markets signaling? Nikunj Dalmia explains

On Monday, S&P 500 hit a record and closed 1.38% higher. Meanwhile, Nasdaq gained 1.39% and the Dow closed almost 1% higher. Analysing this, ET NOW’s managing editor says, “If S&P is inching to a new record high close, when interest rates are going to be hiked and there will be a liquidity squeeze…it means that markets are in a risk-on mode.”
“Markets have ignored the impact of Omicron. Global indices have not really gone in a panic mode,” he adds. He believes the market messaging is that – the world is prepared for Omicron and the economic impact will not be massive due to this variant. Indian markets are also sending the same signal. Brokerages are not slashing their growth estimates for India, he explains. Watch for more.
