UK Time Attack 2024 : Round 6 - Donnington - Episode 8

After round 5 we had a lot of work on our hands to get things up and running and ready for round 6.

In this round, we had less time than we would have liked. We ran the same engine as the last round, but there was a crack in the manifold where the flange mounts to the turbo. Welding wasn’t an option as it would have interfered with the V-band. Thanks to Darren at GSP who temporarily repaired it for us and provided a brand-new manifold with a billet collector.

We sent the wastegate to Turbosmart due to strange pressurisation issues in the coolant system. Although we couldn’t find the cause, they identified a problem requiring machining and parts replacement. They’ve also come on board as a sponsor for the rest of the season and generously provided a brand new HyperGate 45 to replace the old one. Massive thanks to the team at Turbosmart!

The car was dropped off on Friday night, and Ell at Midnight Motorsport worked tirelessly through the night. He swapped the manifold, refitted the turbo, installed the new wastegate, modified the turbo brace, replaced head studs, inspected the head gasket, and replaced the power steering pump and loom. It was all set for a shakedown at Round 6, with the engine limited to 450hp max.
