1991 Okinawa Visit

Just finished rendering this 1991 visit to Okinawa and want to share it here with my friends.

I flew from my mainland home, in Fujisawa City [Kanagawa Prefecture] to visit a few friends [Hokama Tetsuhiro, Katherine Loukopoulos, Simon Lailey, Harry de Spa, Terry Hill, etc.] and meet with Higaonna Morio during the 1st IOGKF World Karate Championships in Ginowan.

The 26 year old VHS video has only just been transferred to MPEG [thank you Val Mijailovic] and I've divided up into several parts [as it's very long] and am now presenting part #1. The quality of the 26 year old footage is not the best but it brings back many fond memories for me ... and, no doubt, for a few others, too :-)

Part #1. A morning visit to the old Hokama dojo/museum in Nishihara Village, a fascinating cultural folk dance by Arakaki san, kata performance by Hokama Tetsuhiro and by Simon Lailey, a quick stop at Shuri Castle and footage from the 1st IOGKF World Championships at the Ginowan Sports Centre: Featuring Katherine Loukopoulos performing Seipai, Suparinpei along with a synchronised Eku form, Matayoshi Shinpo performing his Tsuken Akachu Eku & Aragaki Shuichi performing Seipai.
