On December 16, 2020 Drs. John L. Frattarelli, Anatte Karmon, and Emily Goulet hosted a Facebook Live Session about Ovulation Induction.

During this session, the doctors answered questions and explained that ovulation induction is when fertility medications are used to stimulate the release of one or more eggs from the ovary. Common medications used for an ovulation induction cycle include Clomiphene Citrate, better known as Clomid, as well as Letrozole. Injectable medications like a trigger shot, amongst others, are often used as well and may be best suited for certain patients. Side effects are typically minimal and it is only for a short course of treatment. This could include things like headache, hot flashes, or sometimes the development of a cyst. In other cases, there may be no ovarian or uterine response to medications, and treatment is then adjusted. The typical success rate for an ovulation induction cycle population-wide is 20%, always remembering that the process is a journey. Many times, this will be the first step in the family-building quest. Lastly, this segment also explains which patients specifically can benefit from this treatment and if it is the correct option for them, as well as the cost.
