5.0. HOW TO REGISTER A BUSINESS NAME ON OBRS

How to register a business name on OBRS

To register a business name:

1. Login to the OBRS platform (obrs.ursb.go.ug) via your created individual account.

2. From the left side menu, click “Start”.

3. Click “Register Business Name” to register a Business Name.

4. Identify a reservation from the list, click the “Register” button in the Action column to Register

5. The system directs the applicant to fill the Business Name Registration form.

6. Please note that the system auto-fills the fields; Business Name, Nature of Business and Subtype that were earlier entered at Name Reservation application stage

7. Fill in the other fields by following the prompts

8. Please note that for Ugandan Business Owners, the system validates the NIN, and the NIN returns Name, Date of Birth and Gender

While

For Non-citizens Business Owners, the system requires a Passport/ Alien ID No.

9. Provide an official business contact email address through which notifications and documents concerning your business name will be sent.

10. Check the Statutory Declaration checkbox and click “Save and Continue” to proceed with the Business Name Registration Application and a preview of the application you are about to register will pop up.

11. Click the “Download” button above the form to download or print a copy for signing.

12. After signing, upload a signed copy of the form and the relevant IDs by clicking choose file to select the file and the upload button to upload them

13. Click “Submit Application” to complete the application then a tracking number will be issued on screen and via your business name account email

14. The registry will thereafter review and either approve or query the application within a specified period

15. Once the application is approved or queried the applicant instantly receives an email notification containing the relevant attachments via their official business account email

16. Furthermore the client will be sent a business account activation link via their their official business account email


17. This will be used to set a password and log into your business account
