During this session, PAEA leadership will describe the various incentives associated with serving as a clinical preceptor for physician assistant programs. Data gleaned from a PAEA Preceptor Survey administered in 2011 has helped to define both the tangible and intangible benefits to working with PA students. Several resources, including a preceptor handbook, have been developed to assist clinicians on ways to integrate students into busy clinical practices, establish expectations, and provide constructive feedback. AAPA and PAEA have collaborated on a number of joint ventures designed to promote preceptor recognition, including the availability of category 1 CME for precepting. The presenters will review the new process for securing approval and awarding AAPA category 1 CME.
